How the Roulette Payout Table Works
Roulette payouts are fixed by the type of bet you place, not by the size of the crowd or the previous spin's result. Inside bets cover specific numbers or small clusters — they pay higher because the probability is lower. A straight-up bet on a single number pays 35 to 1; a split across two adjacent numbers pays 17 to 1. Outside
bets cover larger groups: red or black, odd or even, or one of three dozens. These pay 1 to 1 or 2 to 1 and land more often. The house edge comes from the zero pocket — European single-zero wheels carry roughly 2.7%, while American double-zero wheels carry close to 5.26%. Choosing your wheel type is the first real decision the payout
table forces you to make.
